Okay so this is like, super WIP but I want to talk about the hypocrisy often seen in liberal or "nicer" spaces on Twitter and such over "cringeworthy" things. I usually don't see as much hatred for autistic people on sites like here or Tumblr at least. Go to the bottom to read some uplifting words
So yeah. This essay will go head first into that. (I will be discussing about my first hand experiences, roblox, and object shows will be discussed) And I'm sorry it's messy but my general point is that there is a lot of hatred I've seen in autistic users on Twitter against other autistic people, and that the community there should try to uplift each other instead of hurt.
It's happened too many times now. Getting sudden harrassment from being a fan of something, or just for being who you are. Often it's even from people similar to yourself. It sucks, and I don't think the people bullying other autistic people even realize that they suck. A good way to describe this is of "another autistic person mocking someone else for acting more autistic than them." Only in the last few months have I realized this is a problem, and that I have also acted like this before, it's very easy to fall into this trap.
Although I do dislike stuff like Hazbin Hotel and games like Dandy's World and Forsaken, I was wrong for treating all of the fans of those fandoms like they're all bad. Yes, they are infamous communities but it is not appropiate to harrass others purely due to what they like. The stuff I mentioned isn't actually problematic (it may just be annoying to you!) when you focus purely on the show/game, only problematic when considering the crew/creators. Not all of the fans' fault.
I realized that I was too harsh on others when I look at how others feel about object shows. As a fan of 12 years, I heavily dislike the twitter side of the Object Show Community, but I also hate how others then mock people like me for enjoying the show (ie calling me a child, calling me the r slur or much worse and such.) Really it is karma for me, and I have moved myself away from the twitter side of the OSC and don't want to associate with them. It sucks knowing that thousands of people will mock you for your special interest, and I rather not let that happen to innocent people.
I have to talk about how awful some autistic people treat others on the spectrum right now (like people who need more support in day to day life, those with childish interests, therians, xenogender/neopronoun users, age regressors, much... much more)
On the damned site of Twitter, it is so easy to tell that most of the people on there have very conditional support for autistic people. You'll be loved if you have a special interest in like a widely popular show or game like Deltarune, but the moment that you like something like logos or anything deemed as "cringe", you basically get treated as a sub-human. It's just ableism. I rather be friends any day with an autistic person who loves obscure bumper compilations than one who mocks others for being "annoying" or "cringe" despite them just existing.
I would love to participate in these smaller communities, I personally loved TV bumper compilations as a kid, but now I enjoy a compilation of TV channels shutting down. This is okay, it is okay to enjoy these very specific things and you are NOT weird or annoying for liking those things. Keep making and enjoying the things you love and do not let others get to you.
